Online Demo - Pull Printing / Follow-Me Print with card

PrintLimit Print Tracking supports two network adapters: RFIDeas Ethernet 241 (https://www.rfideas.com/products/converters/ethernet-241) and Elatec TCPConv / TCPConv 2 / TCP3 (https://www.elatec-rfid.com/int/tcp-converters). They can be connected on one end to a Local Area Network (LAN) and on the other end to a card reader via USB or serial port. When the user presents a card to the reader, the information is sent over the network to the PrintLimit Print Tracking server, a print job can be released.at the associated printer.

1. Users print documents from their computers to a virtual printer (e.g. \\PrintServer\Follow-Me).

2. Documents are stored on the print server.

3. Users can authenticate through ID card at any physical printer.

4. Users can retrieve jobs when and where they need them.

The price of RFIDeas Ethernet 241 is around $150 ( http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6377374).

If RFIDeas Ethernet 241 includes the RF Ideas pcProx Plus Enroll USB Reader, the price is around $300 (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4712525).

Step 3
. In this example, there are two physical printers "HP Printer 1" and "HP Printer 2" connected to TCPConv 2 with TWN4 card reader.

On a Windows Print Server that has PrintLimit Print Tracking installed, add a virtual printer and two physical printers in "Devices and Printers". All three printers must use the same printer driver. In this example, we use "HP Universal Printing PCL6".

1. Add a virtual printer named Follow-Me with NUL port. All users will print to this printer only (e.g. \\PrintServer\Follow-Me).

2. Pause the virtual printer Follow-Me.

3. Add two physical printers "HP Printer 1" and "HP Printer 2" with TCP port.

Step 4. In PrintLimit Print Tracking Preferences -> Printers, add the printer "Follow-Me" to the list of monitored printers.

Step 5. In PrintLimit Print Tracking Preferences -> Advanced, select "Enable secure pull printing / follow me print with card", click the button "Card Readers", add card reader's IP and the associated printer to the list.

Step 6. In PrintLimit Print Tracking Preferences ->Users / Groups, click button "Import", then click "Import File". import users and card numbers from a CSV file.

PrintLimit Print Tracking has a addon named Print Release Station that allows users to link their cards to their Windows AD accounts and add the card number by themselves.

Step 7 (Optional). In Preferences -> Print Jobs, select "Auto delete all waiting jobs at defined time" and "Auto delete the waiting job if it is held more than x minutes".
